Cooking is not on my priority list during my uni life in Undip. It's never even in my mind! I always thought that it's easier, faster, or maybe cheaper to buy meal instead. Well yeah, it's cheaper in Semarang. But now, I am living in Groningen, and it's surely more expensive here and I definitely need to cook to save money.
The question is, can Irene Sitohang cook her own meal? Strangely, the answer is: yes, she can. But it's not perfect, though. It's something new for me, and I feel that it's getting better every day! Every day, I cook only for dinner, and it's gonna be the biggest meal of the day. Breakfast and lunch is rather the same, mainly I eat bread. I put the chocolate spread, or cheese, or these days I have strawberry jam, or for lunch I can put thin slices of meat.
And how about the drink? In the morning, I like to drink milk. Water is always my favorite drink. And for dinner often I drink tea. Right now I have green tea and it's so good! I am not a fan of coke or other soda, so if I'm really craving for that, then I will buy it, but for now? nee...
Okay, back to cooking. I always eat either rice or potato every meal, but it's not likely I'll have both in one meal. For the protein, I always have an egg and other thing, like chicken, or meat, or fish. Sausages are also sometimes included, but as compliment, though. And don't forget about vegetables! I can't really cook vegetables right now, so I keep it simple: I eat tomato, or lettuce, or eggplant (I fried it and it tasted ok). I do wish that I can cook veg in the future..
Before this post is going to be full of text, I will show photos of the food that I cooked! haha.. It's nothing special but I'm kinda proud of it :)
Rice, egg, pork, fried eggplant, and lemon water
This I bought for lunch. It's kibbeling, cod bites. Worth to try!
Fried rice and chicken! My jasmine rice is too soft, so to make fried rice I need to keep the rice in the fridge and wait till next day to cook it. Love drinking green tea for dinner!
Sausages and pork. For one meal (hahahahaa)
Pork cooking process. It seems that I eat pork a lot. But it's not, really. In fact, I eat chicken a lot than other meat or fish.
Whoa another pork. I guess I did take photos a lot when I ate the pork. Well, the reason I put this photo is to show that the food is almost a fail one, next to the rice is egg mixed with tomato and lettuce. The tomato was really wet, so the egg is almost like a soup! I needed a long time to fry it though.. And see, the pork was kinda burnt kkkkk. In this meal I had beef floss or 'abon'. Niceeeee.
I learn to eat less for lunch. This is example of 'heavy' lunch, cause there were so much stuff in the sandwich.
Potato is a good one to substitute rice, for dinner.
p.s.: Do you know the worst part of cooking? Yup, cleaning it! I usually use many plates and other kinds of utensils that I need time to clean it. I hate it especially when I need to clean something oily.. Well.. as long as I am full and eat a good food, I think it's okay.
## HAPPY COOKING ##
