Day trip around centrum Gent

Writer's picture: Irene SitohangIrene Sitohang

My first experience in this beautiful city: Gent. I was lucky that it was sunny and dry during my visit there. You know, those things are extremely important if you want to have a good travelling day.

During the pandemic, specifically during my trip, people were still allowed to travel freely within Belgium. There were (and also by the time this writing is posted) some regulations, of course, but it was not that depressing.

People were still free to be outside and sit in public spaces as long as they were accompanied by only three other adults (thus 4 people in a group). Especially when the sun comes out and ... well, basically everything is better when the sun comes out, people go outside, bring their lunch and coffee (or maybe tea), and just enjoy the moment.

The interesting thing about the pandemic is this special sign to indicate that people are obligated to wear a mask in that particular area. This kind of sign was unthinkable in the past, and perhaps it will be worth being put in a museum. For me, this kind of object is an interesting photo object!

It is still hard to travel with no restrictions at this time of the year, but hopefully, things will get better!
